I’m so sorry everyone I can’t finish this book it’s so boring. Got halfway and nothing has happened yet at all and I really can’t be bothered to sit another 300 pages just in case something does happen. 2025 will be the year of DNFs.

Parking this for the moment. Aware it’s meant to be a seminal work of historical fiction but the prose is so lyrical that I feel lost as to who is being discussed, where we are, what’s happening etc. was actually making me feel thick

I’m trying so hard not to give up but this is such a slog, nothing feels exciting even with battles and the threat of civil war, just so so bland
