My favorite character is The Youth because of the fact that even though his mom didn't take his dream seriously he still pursued it. "Ma, I'm going to enlist". "Henry, don't you be a fool", his mother had replied. She had then covered her face with the quilt. There was an end to the matter for that night. Nevertheless, the next morning he had gone to a town that was near his mothers farm and enlisted. (Crane 11)

The Red Badge of Courage got it's name from basically soldiers having that sense of courage and bravery during battles and the main character Henry wishes he had that type of courage.

A soldier in the camp- 'We ain't never goin' to stand this second banging. I didn't come here to fight the hull damn army." (Crane 50)

"There were some handshakings and deep speeches with men whose features were familiar, but with whom the youth now felt the bonds of tied hearts". (Crane 50)

"Presently he began to feel the effects of the war atmosphere-a blistening sweat, a sensation that his eyeballs were about to crack like hot stones". (Crane 44)

"The young girl, with pink cheeks and shining eyes, stood like a dauntless statue".

The setting currently in my story is still a boot camp except I am learning that there's not only one boot camp there's another which is perceived to be a rival to "The youth" and the others.

My book started in the early 1900's and a couple years have gone by since then to now. (Crane 20)

Human Vs. Human

"Also he was drilled and drilled and reviewed, and drilled and drilled and reviewed" (Crane 14), I envisioned Henry training and training and training day by day and then being evaluated by his general, and it just being becoming a continuous cycle.

The setting of my book took place during the Civil War which began in 1861 and ended in 1865.

"Their conversation is like a gently wicked dance: sound meets sound, curtsies, shimmers, and retires" (Morrison 15). I imagined that they're having a relaxing conversation based on a crazy topic.

I encourage other people to read this book because the mix of fiction and non-fiction is amazing, even though the book is a fantasy book the author still provides real life situations and relations.

The atmosphere in this book feels like what horror movies should actually be like.
