I really don't know how I feel about this. It's uncomfortable, which I feel is the point, but it means I can really only read it in short bursts, when I think maybe it should be read in one go.
Which is not to say I don't like it, it's just disquieting, and suspect it's going to stay with me whether I want it to or not.

I am struggling with this.
It needs an editor, and the author's super simplistic style makes me think this was possibly originally aimed at a younger audience. There's no fluidity to conversations, everyone speaks in full sentences with few contractions and it's a slog
The political allegory is as subtle as a brick through the window and the disability narrative is iffy "Your body wants to be this way"... mmkay.

This book is just making me angry. The writing isn't good but the hints at world building have me curious enough that I know I'm gonna end up forking out for the rest of the series.
