It’s giving TFIOS, which I loved in high school, but I read Looking for Alaska this past summer and hated it. I want to DNF because I simply do not think this book is meant for a non high school student, but I’ll finish what I can before book club.

I fairly certain I’ve guessed the twist.

heartbreaking

Centered on a woman in science, also a mother, overlooked by her male counterparts and judged by her appearance, this book is soooo good so far.

If there isn’t a happy ending, I’m going to be very upset.

I’m annoyed again.

Okay, it’s finally starting to get better. Narrator has learned more and is less annoying.

Narration is more telling than showing so far. FMC narrator is annoyingly naive and lacks critical thinking. But, it’s interesting. And so I read and listen on.

I cried twice since my last update. Now I have to pause the book for a few minutes because the plot twist I expected is not quite the one we got and it’s a lot of drama and I’m not expecting it to wrap into a nice bow like I want.

I did not think I would love this as much as I do.

Romance: mostly clean, we know characters have sex but nothing is described, FMC keeps virginity until she is sure, no cheating
Violence/Gore: a lot
Language: quite a bit

So far I think ages 15+

ALC notes so far: A few words have been mispronounced (e.g. acquiesce as “aquise”) and one line was said twice.
