The plot thickens!

This is my second Steinbeck, and so far I have been nothing but amazed at his writing. I’ve heard great things about East of Eden, so I am looking forward to it!

We’ve been introduced to the two families, and I already feel bad for both. I can’t help but feel sympathy for Adam and Samuel :(

I’m quite happy with the newest development. Theo really needed to get out of there.

(Spoilery) I’m glad Theo made a friend but man, Boris is a terrible influence.

Honestly I’m a little surprised at how little has happened so far. But we’re finally getting some change! Not that I mind, Tartt’s writing is wonderfully atmospheric and portrays Theo’s grief very well. My favourite character so far is Hobie <3

Things are finally looking up! I believe in you, Theo!

Picked this book up again. I’m finally in the mood to read it and it’s better than I remember!

Did they really just pull a Romeo and Juliet?

I’m really invested in Miss Villefort and Mr Morrel’s romance! Very exciting stuff.

On the other hand, I couldn’t care less about Andrea, Caderousse, and the plot involving Danglars. I also find Albert quite boring.

Paris sure is eventful!

Finally back to France!

This has the potential to be a fun read!

Albert is frustratingly naive. Franz deserves a better friend, is swear! Someone who won’t just ditch him to flirt with some random suspicious woman. I’m 100% on Franz’s side regarding everything. He is right not to trust the Count and to question his origins, unlike Albert who only sees the Count’s apparent virtuous philanthropy.

Part 2 was slow, so I’m looking forward to part 3!

It’s somewhat interesting, seeing the kind of life wealthy aristocrats led in the 19th century. Franz and Albert are just doing whatever they want and their biggest concern is the lack of available car… even though they were able to get a charrette. Seriously, they have a vehicle! What’s there to complain about?!

I kind of want to complain about all the tangents. I don’t really care about some random Italian bandits.

Edmond is finally out!! Yippee!!! Rip Faria though. Thank you for everything.

It’s so nice to finally be out of the darkness and into the sunlight, and that Edmond can be on the seas once more. Made me emotional, not gonna lie.

😢
