I love a captivating beginning. Also eeeeee didn’t realize that Shane East was one of the narrators he’s a favorite of mine. Although it’s a bit jarring hearing him say naughty things after The Queen’s Thief’s chasteness.

I’m having a pretty difficult time keeping track of the POV characters in this. I feel like the characterization hasn’t been distinct enough for me to really get a grasp on who is talking now but then again it’s so early in the book so hopefully it becomes more apparent later on.

Something is not quite right in the House de Lyon. The author is doing a great job at building suspense even though we KNOW bad things are about to go down. I just want to see Selene again, I miss our creepy cannibal sister.

Abercrombie's descriptions are almost getting a bit nauseating. I guess that's the point but it sure is a lot of gore.

A bold strategy... when there's literally only one character fucking around and doing nothing for almost a quarter of the book, just make him go crazy so he can talk to the voices in his head. I like dumb (and maybe insane) Carter but thank fuck my boy has a real person to talk to now, that bit was ridiculous.

Ok I may have been a little harsh. This book is not following the same format and is a bit confusing at first. Boston Rob's personality has been lore-appropriately retconned , which I don't hate because he was purposefully insufferable in Wolfsong. I still hate how the narrator does his voice and how it occasionally bleeds into the other rural Oregonian voices because it is so different. I miss my gruff gay redneck.

Oh no not this PoV. Nothing more romantic than hearing about the depressing life of the dweeby werewolf with the grating Boston accent.
