Reading this for the 52 Book challenge prompt “Books seen in a TV show or movie.” This book was featured in The Pitt season 2 episode 9. What a great show 😭

This would probably be way more interesting if I were reading with my eyes.

Theoretically I should like this except the men suck ass and the women just lack any sort of ooomph. The only interesting female character is dead the whole book. I will finish this just for the 52 book challenge prompt.

This feels like the most impactful entry into the SFF genre since… Dune? It feels more grounded though (pun partially intended). Just got to the scene with the node maintainer and it is so stomach churning and hateful. This book makes you feel raw and expertly achieves what Science Fiction and Fantasy does best. It turns a mirror on our world to reflect and extrapolate reality so the reader can truly SEE.

Oh yeah, I should probably have already read Slaying the Vampire Conquerer... oops

30% through and there have been 4 different fade to black fall unconscious scenes. Y'all. Get. It. Together.

Honestly even though I should have seen this coming I was not expecting the surprise romantic tension. His disdain was described so heavily and so often that I was perfectly convinced.

I have notes.

I knew this was going to be heavy because Buehlman had given us some hints and glimpses of the horrors of the daughter's war. I don't know if I have the mental fortitude right now to finish this.

If this romantic set up were any more ham-fisted it would need a glaze. Much like the glaze of my eyes as the FMC literally listed all of the qualities in a man she would find attractive. This is a pretty major let down so far.

More than halfway through this massive tome. Still can't really tell if I actually enjoy this book or if I'm just too invested and knee-deep in sunk-cost fallacy to give up.

Oh my god this is going to end on some gut-wrenching cliff hanger isn't it...

😳 Wow. I really hope they nail the ending because this has been very very good so far.

I love a captivating beginning. Also eeeeee didn’t realize that Shane East was one of the narrators he’s a favorite of mine. Although it’s a bit jarring hearing him say naughty things after The Queen’s Thief’s chasteness.

I’m having a pretty difficult time keeping track of the POV characters in this. I feel like the characterization hasn’t been distinct enough for me to really get a grasp on who is talking now but then again it’s so early in the book so hopefully it becomes more apparent later on.

I know you can crush me like a grape between your massive lady-knight thighs but I love imagining what your laughter sounds like

I'm really digging this so far. Great characterization and self-deprecating humor.

How could you Celene, HOW COULD YOU!!!!!!!

Now I'm just immediately skeptical anytime anything good happens to our main trio.

Something is not quite right in the House de Lyon. The author is doing a great job at building suspense even though we KNOW bad things are about to go down. I just want to see Selene again, I miss our creepy cannibal sister.

This book does not need to be this long.
