beautiful artistic direction and vision--while a little rough at the edges, the risks urana takes visually are incredible. the anti-establishment and punk undertones are so refreshing to see in shonen, and i very much appreciate the ruldo isnt the typical annoying shonen protagonist that grates on my nerves. i probably stared at that first chapter art for at least five minutes. incredibly charming !!

honestly so funny on the re-read. dracula being described as "lizard-like" as he scampers up the walls of his castle is such silly imagery and van helsing is such an iconic freak. tfw your fiancé dies tragically and mysteriously and this weird german man asks if he can saw her head off and put a stake through her. so iconic. also mina is my QUEEN she is such a girlboss id fall in love with her too upon meeting her

SUCH beautiful and unique art omfggg. the eyes and mouths are so expressive! the story so far is such an interesting point of view to consider during the french revolution, though very obviously fictionalized to create drama and character backstory/arcs. very dark and grim, but equally fascinating. fuck charles's dad fr bc what the fuck !! hope he dies

mika is SUCH a compelling character and her development throughout the series so far is phenomenal. she perfectly reflects the internalized misogyny forced onto girls, and how polarizing it is to navigate through these feelings while also not knowing how to adequately communicate these things with other girls. seeing her now accept kindness from her friends, and let go of her god complex makes me feel so !! <3 :')

difficult to read for sure--doesn't read like a story, but rather an anthology, which makes sense given it's basically the in-universe bible. the tolkienisms are still very present though--i love the idea that middle-earth came to be through music and art. i'm sure the more times you reread it the richer it becomes, though it is quite the challenge to initially get into it. loving morgoth though love a goth king
