what’s interesting comparing this vs its adaption is that i think the movie interprets the message as being some pseudo religious “don’t play god and interfere with nature” message, whereas i feel like this novel is moreso critiquing the illusion of paternalism and the human need for control, which actually stands in opposition to abrahamic beliefs if anything
