Reading this while being on holiday in a small Sicilian town is absolute BLISS

as somebody who saw the movie first, i am eating up the character development

third use of the word “prurient”, still don’t know what it means

i thought my english was pretty good but apparently “pruriently” is a pretty normal word, based on how much this author uses it

this book is growing on me. i sometimes have a hard time with british fiction because of my lack of cultural knowledge about the UK, but the character descriptions are so good and funny i kinda have to keep reading

this book reads like a script or a storyboard for the majority of it? not a huge fan

very meandery book, hoping that there’s at least gonna be a lil more drama than this tbh

i cant tell why but i’m really not enjoying this book

i enjoyed the poetry excerpts Owen’s sprinkled throughout the first half, but now, being almost at 2/3rds, i feel bamboozled into reading Owen’s shamelessly bad self-written poetry every other page.

she first introduces “amanda hamilton” at page 153, and from then on recites NO other poetry than her own. very cringe
