Fellowship - Prefer the movie version. Tolkien focuses on world building and using as many names and places as possible without connecting them to the story. I’m glad Peter, Fran, and Philippa were able to distill Tolkien’s world into a more coherent and interesting narrative. The book is interesting to read, but the stakes are lower and characters are under developed.
