2/5 I don't understand the reason for this story to have been written. Maybe it was to show that there can be friends amongst those we call enemies?
Perhaps it's that people, despite being in a war, can still be compassionate? Not sure.

We may not step in the same river twice, nor with the same feet."

The understanding I am getting from this book so far is that a lack of emotion can kill a person. Empathy, love, and care are all essential to living a fulfilling life. Without it, you'll become monstrous and undeserving of freedom.

Based on the concepts of existentialism and absurdism, I initially felt a strong belief to these philosophical terms. Half way through the stranger, and I notice I do not have the same mindset as the main character in the slightest. He is inhuman and emotionless, it is hard to connect with someone who does not have emotions, more emotions are human.

Did not get much out of this story. Talks about not acting on revenge. The effects of fate. False accusations. Loss of family, and subsequently yourself.
