This installment tastes a little different. I’m not sure yet where it is going…

I’ll probably finish the book tomorrow. This final chapter discusses how Judaism became synonymous with Zionism. In the beginning they were really pitted against each other but then slowly people came to associate them thanks to rabbis from Eastern Europe (read Russia). The chapter also takes the reader through from 1600s to 1948 and the Nakba.

Chapter 3 was the history of zionism and where it came from and how it was what happened in Europe and the other western countries refusing to take in Jews that actually made Jews even think of immigration to Palestine

The second chapter talks about how there was differing opinions on whether there is a jewish homeland or not and how the concept of homeland may have been something inherited from Hellenistic influences. This chapter might actually blow some zionist heads off.

The author poses a great question. Why is it that the “father of the Jews”, Abrahim, and their biggest prophet, Moses, both not from “the Promised Land”? Infact, why is it that even when they decided to take wives for their children and grandchildren they looked at Egypt and Mesopotamia and not Canaan?

A surprise at every corner….

This is the first book I read for this author and all I can say so far is wow.

I didn’t like the last book very much and this one is not starting out well still…carry on!

So far the book does a great job of setting up what it wants to accomplish. I’ve already underlined quite a few quotes that I think are extremely interesting.

I just finished book 3 of the Mortal Series. I’m not sure how to see the ending…I mean what are they going to fight in the upcoming books 😂 I’m giving this 4/5

I’m up to chapter four which is the period between 1800 to 1900

I just finished book two…the series keeps getting better and aside from the main cast I love Magnus bane!

The first half of the story went by so fast. And the twist…wow, loved it.

I’m reading this as part of a book club read along so I’m going at their pace.

Started it around 10 pm and now it is almost 2 am. The cats won’t let me finish apparently pets are more important. The book is dang awesome so far.

Just finished reading the first chapter which was the introduction. I got some good points from it but I also am not sure exactly if there were just borrowings from Irish Literature to Welsh Literature or if there were also influences from Irish Lit. to Welsh Lit. I hope to learn more as I read on...

The essays I’ve read so far are so interesting. I love that each essay has its own bibliography and at the beginning of each essay there is a paragraph to tell you what the essay is about before you read.

Just finished reading the first essay. It was in both Welsh and English and is an analysis of the epigraphical evidence based on Roman records.

I’m learning a lot but I’m also getting confused...not sure if the story in my head really fits the steps in the book.
