Beg, Sl Tog, Inc, Continue, Rep

"But the body moves toward health. The mind, too, in steps. One step at a time. Ask a mother who has just lost a child, How many children do you have? "Four," she will say, "--three," and years after, "Three," she will say, "--four."

Tonight is a Favour to Holly

"When she sees him, Holly says, it's like the sunsets at the beach--once the sun drops, the same chills quickly. Then it's like a lot of times that were good ten minutes ago and don't count now."

The Art of Failure

"He understood what had happened in the greens and fairways that day. And he was bound by the particular etiquette of choking, the understanding that what he had earned was something less than a victory and what Norman had suffered was something less than a defeat."

I think this essay is by far my favorite one of Malcom's.

The Art of Failure

"Panic, in this sense, is the opposite of choking. Choking is about thinking too much. Panic is about thinking too little. Choking is about loss of instincts panic is reversion to instinct. They may look the same, but they are worlds apart."

Finished reading "Something Borrowed" and I can't help but wonder if Malcom's opinion on plagiarism and creative transformation is still the same with the rise of AI. Although I cannot say I agree with Malcolm on his view of plagiarism and copyright, it was still an interesting read.

John Rock's Error

"It was the fault of the haphazard nature of science which all too often produces progress in advance of understanding."

Just finished reading True Colors, and I don't think I've gotten a more comprehensive background on women's hair dye in 1950s America, and how politics and psychology and hair dye are all related.

A very interesting read on the women behind some of the biggest hair dye brands

Don't you hate it when a female author writes a female character in the male gaze? Why do they all have the exact same trope of uncontrollably lusting after married men like an animal in heat? I just don't get why they refuse to write any complexity into the characters.
