There’s nothing like getting a surprise woman biologist feature in a history book!!

Unexpectedly, this is good time to read this book w the references to the Odyssey

Crazzzzyyyy plot twist

“America’s vast reserve of scientific expertise, nurtured by government research funding and strengthened by the ability to poach the best scientists from other countries, has provided the core knowledge driving technological advances forward.” RIP :(

So far it’s giving a different flavor of Red Rising but the world building is intriguing enough I’ll let it pass.

Time to re-read in prep for ACOTAR 6 and 7

Surprise prion feature okaaayyyy

This would’ve gone so hard in 2014

been using HeLa cells a lot at work and wanna re-read this book
Ch. 0 quote from her daughter: “if her cells are doing so much for medicine, how come her family can’t afford to see no doctors?”

Well I get why it’s called dark age :(

I too like to get drunk off rum in Barbados and need to be dragged back home by my husband

time to see what the hypes all about

“In this unlikely space she remembered waiting for the epidural when Mishti was to be born- the same cold lights, the same dread, the same absolute exposure before a stranger”

Calling someone “reviewer number 2” as an insult??? I’m already obsessed with this book

just finished the preface and already get why this book is so popular. Incredible writing.

idk why I’m making August the month I read long books but here I am

Re-read bc when people ask me my fav book this is always my answer so I wanna double check if that’s true. Plus to get hype for katabasis release later this month.
