What the hell, sure

Spent a few weeks hopelessly anxious and depressed, save me Roberto Bolaño.

DNF’d Cormac McCarthy because tbh the book just got too boring. Bro could write some nice sentences but his choice of almost Biblical terseness across every scene begins to grate after a few chapters. Also, tbh his “minimalist punctuation” ethos is kinda annoying in that it forces him to stretch sentences out with the article “and” where a comma or other punctuation mark would vastly improve the flow.

The hype is true that McCarthy is a compelling writer but by far the most griping and confounding passages are when the main character’s sister hallucinates the world’s worst variety show.
