Who can resist Junebug McBride? I'm happy to be back with the McBrides and this one seems like it might be the most fun one. I'd hate for it to be the last one of this series.

There is a reason I put this down last time... Page 1 his ring "gleamed in the light of the moon." And on Page 5 (moments later) "The sun had begun to set already....The clouds... transform[ed] into roses and gold."
How many eyes were on the MS and missed the conflicting times here?

The audiobook narrator keeps pronouncing it Ri-tis. And I'm wondering if its a different word than the title. But otherwise interesting so far.

Hilarious from the first sentence and hard to out down.

Finally past the saddest chapters in any book I've ever read, and ready for the exciting finish!

This is where I DNFed. Other people were waiting for it and I just couldn't get back into the story. People were showing up that I didn't remember, there was incongruity with Violet's power from once scene to the next. It just wasn't keeping my attention. I may try again at a later date.

I want to like this more than I do.... struggling to finish.

This is getting a little too immature and repetitive for me, but I'm going to see it through.

Was afraid that it was turning out (plot-wise) to be too similar to the first book, but I have been pleasantly surprised.

Once past the obligatory first book recap, the story picks up.

I am alternating between intrigued and infuriated while reading this. I appreciate the depiction of PTSD and probably depression, but hate how it seems to be leading up to a complete negation of the first book's premise.

Yelling at a book because the characters just won't communicate properly with each other.

Super cute so far. Characters bonding over Star Wars and David Bowie references? Be still my heart.

Just started... but narrator is Steve West (from Ember in the Ashes) which makes my ears smile.

This book's going to be a slog. The main character is obnoxious. I don't like her, and instead of being relatable, I pity her. Not sure if that's what the author intended or not. Trying to stick with it though.

3rd book 3rd narrator.

A Cinderella knock off. Really? 🙄

I forgot how terrible this narrator is. No wonder I can't remember any of this from my first listen.
