Im loving this book for all its socialist and unionist history lessons. Its a painful contrast to the Japan of today were the labour and teachers unions are effectively dead.

Best bit so far was the space marine surgery, fun hearing new angles on a familiar subject

The authors found what makes this town better then what Tokyo could offer, a minute or so walk from the busy train station and youre out into beautiful 農村地帯, the farming area.

The author describes a town I know very well but from 17 years ago. In such a short time, its strange to hear how much has changed. Much of the old parts that I love are still here, the rice paddy fields and such, but they are no longer so close to the train station like the author once saw them

Like how he describes the town as STILL unfinished

Picked this up in Kanazawa to kick start my Japanese reading skills. Bought it and started reading it when I was N5 level, now that I'm N4 I'm hoping its easier to read

It does suffer from fantasy/sci-fi noun overload

I found this book in the special needs classroom of the Japanese school I work at. Its symptomatic of the Japanese education system that many teachers and the curriculum have no fucking idea what they're doing. Its a book about the stalking and murder of a family.

Interesting insight into medieval politics. Kings saw themselves as houndmasters, having to ask their knights to swear oaths of obedience, to not rampage across foreign lands.

Brilliant argument that if Jesus was to return, the people in power who profess to be Christian would oppose him. That they would never willingly admit their crimes of murder and abuse nor relinquish their power.

Its like reading a shopping list, the translation is so dry

Unfortunately, this feels like a direct translation with the poetic warp weft taken out of it.
