I just completed Earth Alone. I found the personal story of Marco compelling as he transitions through life from losing his mother in an alien attack, to his enlistment and training, to the cliff hanger end. Marco is more of a librarian than a warrior who makes the journey into an unknown future and the changes that are about to occur in his character.

Everything old is new again.

An inspirational book, especially in these times of vague morality.
