Okay I had like 50 comments throughout but I couldn’t stop reading to do a progress update on Goodreads so here we are haha

She is making the same point here again, that what he is doing seems the exact same as what others have done to her before, but he seems to take it far more seriously now. At least he is not making teasing remarks anymore

Poppy is expressing VERY VALID concerns and he is only giving her a teasing response. I really hope that is just because he knows it’s not just for her own good but more complicated and he feels bad so he deflects with humor, not because he doesn’t take her seriously because the latter would make him a dick

The way he is realistic and honest AND still takes accountability <3
The way he can admit his faults without throwing a pity party or whatever

Damn, the fact that he tells her this.. If I were Poppy I would be so conflicted and confused now. But idk, imo the good is starting to outweigh the bad he did more and more and more

I love how he really takes her seriously but also knows exactly when she is just being stubborn or feels like she constantly needs to fight back and teases her with that. I mean he teases, but also keeps telling her to keep fighting back. That is what gives me the feeling he actually understands. He does not say it like “haha whatever you’re weak anyway”, but he understands the complexity yk
