Cheryl’s mum loves her horse Lady, and when she dies the horse needs to be put down.

Because it’s cheap, Cheryl gets her brother to shoot the horse which ends up being 4-6 times because he did it wrong the first. Actually disgusting.

You love your mum so much and then don’t even have decency to put it down the humane way and then you decide to profit off of it in your book.

I find Cheryl super unlikeable and self-indulgent which makes it a hard read because ya know, it’s a memoir.

She doesn’t *really* hold herself accountable EVER and it’s very “it is what it is”, where she rationalises a lot of the shitty things she does. I guess I should try to admire her honesty? We’ll see.

Man..I promised myself to refrain from judgement until after I finished the book, but WHY does he write women so poorly? And WHAT is his obsession with young people having sex with old people? (If you’ve read Norwegian Wood then you’ll see it’s present in that as well) I mean I *guess* it was a different time, but it’s uncomfortable and worst of all unnecessary!
