At 16 pages in, I felt like I was reading my own biography.

I'm not going to make my 33 book goal. I knew that ages ago. However, since I upped my number mid-year because I'd already met it, I claim it a win.

Not sure if I'm going to finish this. So many grammar errors, point of view changes (first to third in the same paragraph, same speaker), and autocorrect. May not be worth it.

Looks like I'm back into the reading habit. Glad for it. Maybe it's connected to having a job? I do find I avoid screens (especially TV) on weeknights, opting instead for my kindle or the cats. If I surpass this year's goal with lots of time to spare, I'll up it. Yay reading!

Not sure about this one. I'll give it a few more chapters (they're short) and then move along if I'm not fully IN.

[1/10 pt 2] I figured out pretty quickly that I read to escape the misery of my job, which is how I read 127 books in a year. The constant state of anxiety, fear, and rage of 2020 made it virtually impossible to escape reality even for a few moments of reading and I barely made it through any books at all. Trying to change that this year, but setting a small goal so I can up it if necessary. Let's do this shit.

Lost my job at the end of January 2020. While it turned out to be a blessing within a month or two, it still shook me. And as 2020 kept 2020ing, I found it impossible to read. I couldn't turn my brain off enough to fall into the story.

Went back and added shelves for my top 10 reads for 2018 and 2019. To conserve room, I only added the first book in a series that should be in the top 10. It was really hard choosing.

Why are Amazon First Reads always books I have absolutely zero interest in reading? I know Amazon tracks everything I do/buy/see/hear/think. Step it up, y'all.

When does the 2020 Challenge doodad appear?

I love and fear this book. It's brilliantly written and strikes far too close to home for my personal comfort. My former therapist would absolutely love it. I hope she finds it.

Just opened it this morning and whoa. Instantly grabbed me. I'll make quick work of it.

I don't want it to end! I keep hoping that as I read, the book will somehow extend itself forever.

I'm at the culmination of a huge project at work that has been a shitshow at every level. As such, my reading time is limited--I'm at work at 4am to actually WORK. This is some bullshit, y'all. Bullshit.

Noticed a missing period within the first page or two. Maybe it's because of my English degree but I find errors in books so jarring. I'm totally into a story and then --bam, an error. It slams me back into real-world and takes me out of the happy book place. No me gusta.

Would love to help edit books -- how do I get into that biz?

While the story is moving along nicely, I've found textual errors (plural) as I've read. Could have used another editor's eyes.

Realised this series will close out my 2019 challenge goal. Dig that.

I think I could spend an entire year reading Alice tales. Maybe a goal for next year? This one pulled me in instantly. I imagine I'll eat through it like a blue-dressed girl with a tea cake.

Homework tonight: find a new book. I have a million on my kindle but picking one is always difficult.

How do I follow that up?!?!
