The more I read, the more I see this authors voice as a privileged white man in America coming through. He missed opportunities to really explore important themes such as racism, rape, etc. and just wrapped those in a little bow. Characters "just got over it" by killing or beating people or recognized they weren't really being discriminated against, they were just acting like a victim.

Meh...I'm trying to stay engaged and like these characters, it I'm honestly having a hard time. Gonna try to stick it out because there have been some funny moments I enjoyed, but mostly hard to care about these people so far.

I just finished Trail of Broken Wings. Great story about family, love, pain, and healing.

I'm really trying to stay engaged in this book, but I'm having a a hard time. What's the deal with all the drinks? Coke, Diet Coke, tea, coffee....I mean I get it's the south, but this is overkill. I don't mind that it's a Christian mystery romance, buts it's also taking too long for the story develop. I'm not sure I really like the main characters, almost too wholesome and not at all interesting.
