Capitalism creates unlimited cravings, we are trained to fit the norm of the society since attending school. What we truly need is not what we want. Addiction is not a disease, as it is a combination of various factors, from pain, childhood and environment.

Chapter 15- addiction
- no one made the wrong decision to be addicted, it’s the same as brain cancer. When we are addicted, the ability to control is suppressed, it is a neuro disorder
- question 1: what does addiction provide you (instead of taking away from you). It must provide some human necessities, like escape
- question 2: why the pain (instead of why you are addicted). Pain is always behind addiction.

Halo effect describes how first impressions affect subsequent emotions

When system 2 is busy or tired, it’s more likely to jump to conclusions or believe information appears, like commercial or bias.

Positive emotion and pleasure linked to cognitive ease in system 1. Cognitive strain evokes system 2. Everything from font size, word complexity, sentence structure, to familiarity, and most recent exposure, can cause the difference. Familiarity is preferable, as our brain will skip to the conclusion (system 1) without needing to think (system 2).

Priming effect- what you see affect how you act and feel, in every small and large scale

People who nod the head when trying on a headphone are more accepting and who shake tend to reject a message they heard

Fatigue and hunger play a role in ego depletion, where you feel exhausted after executing a task that requires self control

Easy to follow, sufficient solved problems to practice the equations, clear definitions about potential and potential energy
