Sadly this turned into a very cliched story. Not saying what it became about isn’t a common issue but it started didn’t have to be so so cliched.

She definitely knows Karachi and she’s got the skill of imagination, so vivid so beautiful. (You see why KS’s was such a surface read)

What a beautiful imagination and how beautifully she spins it into such poetic prose. So vivid, you can see her carefully weaving her book, thread by thread.

Reading this book feels like I’m reading urdu in English. It makes you yearn for reading urdu. Enough said.

Totally fail to understand how someone who has lived in Pakistan for the first 18 years of her life, Aliya here, doesn’t know Urdu well enough to be able to say umeed from amrood. Pretentious and lame.

@pages 113-114, looks like he’s describing himself.

When he says ‘At first those people worked for the artist, but soon he was working for them’ and so on, it sounds relatable to his own writing.

This, My Friends, this isn’t him, this isn’t A man called Ove’s author in his element, or he has got himself mixed up.

Word clutter. Through and through. So much that it takes the focus away from the story. Such is the lack of balance!

I want to ask, how did a very thoughtful and intentional author of A man called ove masterpiece become a ‘babbling’ stand-up comedy type the anxious people and my friends author!
