i understand that i’m not liking this book bc it’s written that way on purpose & they’re wrong for the things they’re thinking & saying. i get that. i just hope we progress past it soon bc i don’t like hearing all this

everything the dad just said could have been said to the boy so he would know that it was ok, good, & necessary to think for himself instead of teaching him it’s not & then expecting him to figure it out on his own, getting frustrated that he never pushed back & rebelled bc that’s what it would have been at the time & then tossing him to the wolves

went through so many threads on reddit & this came up a few times for what to read after rangers apprentice. has a LONG wait on libby (16 weeks) so while that’s not an indication it’s a good book, it’s at least popular for some reason. fingers crossed
