What did Murakami mean by this?

This most certainly was one of the books of all time. With characters. And words. Not a plot, though, because that seems to be asking too much of Miss Moshfegh

This book is gonna be a bit tiring to read but I think that's kinda the point. The environment is disgustingly superficial and branded yet the city sucks. Bateman finds himself in the midst of these two worlds and keeping up with his image and his social circles is a massive tire: the people are awful and superficial, his fiancé is probably cheating, his routine is enough to make any normal person go mad. Thrilling.

I must say that this book's namesake, Genital Grinder, was a bit of a letdown. How shocking; more violence against women as a means to disturb. I don't believe it's ever been done before!

I'm rather bored now and unless there's an abrupt change of pace in which these ideas get thrown upside down, this'll be a slog to reach to the end.

Witty writing so far. Perhaps this is wrong of me to say but I do find some humour in parts of this book. Whether this is intentional on the author's part, I don't know, but I don't think you can write "this dead woman was getting shot full of his ball sauce, thank you very much" with a straight face so I'm inclined to believe it's intentional. Bottom Feeders and Damaged Goods were too short to be effective imo.
