It’s funny because I don’t know if I love the main character but this author’s writing is so good. I’m breezing through this book. Loved the ship scenes. And apart from the main two characters the rest of the cast is really interesting. I especially liked reading about the privateer. The main 2 characters just feel like they’re being dragged along by the plot

Okay I think I might’ve found my groove with this book. It was taking a bit to get adjusted to the language and long, poetic sentences. Also, tons of words I don’t know, I feel slightly illiterate… But I am somehow enjoying regardless lol

Honestly it’s reminding me of The Time Machine. I guess I’m a sucker for old male scientists recounting their stories in vivid detail and repeating “hitherto”
