This book has been so helpful and convicting to me. It really is deeply worth reading.

However this chapter had some notes in it that sounded more like a chorus of the Old Covenant than the new and better one established by Christ. Threats of God allowing a Christian lifelong torment and threat of judgement over sins committed felt extreme and pastorally problematic. The Spirit never leaves a true believer.

Reading for the Center for Pastor Theologians Learning Cohort on Augustinian Apologetics. Very excited to learn more from this facet of the great bishop's thought.
