This book is absolutely disgusting & far too grotesque for my own liking. I get that’s the point but theres wayyyy too much incest and rape for it to not come off as overkill. Anyways the writing is very good which is why I can’t rate it a 1. If it wasn’t so short I would’ve DNF’d

Just 2 days ago I was randomly discussing with my Dad bout the Black American and Liberian natives relationship during this exact time period. When Liberia was being pushed as a “safe haven” for the newly freed BA slaves and thousands left to “settle” this land “owed” to them. It’s crazy how the oppressed quickly become the oppressors when given the power :/

Need a book that requires 0 brain power to get me out this slump

I’m in the most brutal reading slump of all time feeling like an anti-intellectual
