Not sure how I feel about this currently, maybe my expectations were too high? (It having the most wonderful cover and being set in a time and place that fascinates me, along with subject matter that fascinates me). I also craved more characterisation, which I feel like the author has done but I don't quite _feel_ it. I'll give it some more time.
