The first half this book is amazingly slow, its setting the stage for something but quiet honestly I really didnt care. Two incredibly flawed people with a decent sex life move in almost a dazed fashion through the post apocalyptic world. For the majority of the first half it's just them. They worry and dont communicate well, they fuck themselves pregnant, they meet their neighbors, and the local trader.

a little slow to start but it took right off once you really get into it. excellent page turned. the formatting is really interesting at first I found it off putting but once I got into it I found it easier to follow and engage with.

I have no idea why I'm reading this book it's not the type of book I usually read. that said it's not bad. like a window into an alien world. a solid warning against cults, the degrading or women and young girls is really horrifying.

enjoying this book so far, interesting childhood this guy experienced.

Bean loved the book, the Gothic obsession with death bothered her a little. "daddy people die, but why do these people talk about it so much? "

reading this nightly with bean she loves it.

darker turn to the book, written in such a way that you don't feel depressed. very fast pace the number of page you read glides by quickly.

phenominally good read this far very enthralling. very different then my usually dystopian lit

interesting this far, on one hand rather slow going on the other its horrific to read this scenario from a child's point of view.

Awesome book funny, heart warming, sad at times. heavey had me in the first page I laughed I cried and I enjoyed his stories. As an imperfect outdoorsman myself I enjoyed this book immensely

I have no interest in reading further, as much I enjoy information about the human body. gawandes words do nothing for me. plus if I wanted to know how often surgeons screw up with nothing else of substance added in I would read malpractice lawsuits.

this is so far kinda meh, lots of advious symbolism, shout outs to the Dow. trodden Irish folks, and generally meh writing. I'm going to predict his wife dies and he becomes a freedom fighter all William Wallace style.

this book is amazingly fucked up.I did not see that coming. it's well written so far it's sucked me in and kept me here 350 pages in 8 hours. I make poor choices.

my copy of this book is not 304 pages but 260. this book is interesting as I move into a more recent time frame. the depth of knowledge provided compliments what little I know of the region from the smattering of history classes that I have taken over the year. This book is dense but enjoyable.
