I've hit a slow patch, but that could be because I don't read well on the weekends, I get stopped a lot by family 😅 but I think this is a very interesting and enjoyable premise, and well executed.

If anyone on my friends list wants an ARC copy of the book, I would absolutely send one to you! The author is a friend of mine and is looking for reviews before publishing date to help promote his book!

They are talking about Hoid's disappearance like he's The Doctor in Doctor Who and the companions he leaves behind miss him😂 Everytime their like "Hoid could have fixed this." I'm like, that's almost a direct Doctor Who quote if you change "Hoid" for "The Doctor"

I have an OCD tic/compulsion where if I lie or even think I am misleading someone, I gulp. THIS CHICK LIES SO MUCH, IT IS STRESSFUL. A ton of her problems could be solved if she was just honest with her support system. I get that these are the actions of an addict, but since it is her POV it is making my OCD tic go WILD. Lying is only fun when you're not interesting. I have no such problems since I am interesting ;)

The main character, Becky, has lied to people and herself so much that this book is boarding on a becoming psychological thriller.

I guess I'm reading all 5 books now 😅 I'm glad they are short because I have a book club book to re-read before Monday

I AM LOVING THIS SO FAR! 😭😭😭 This book is so mean to me. Everything happening is designed to torture me and it is working.

Blah, blah, blah, science. Blah, blah, blah, S1 E2 of Doctor Who. (I am enjoying it though, there's just a LOT of science in this science fiction book)

I am only writing this update because it has been hard to move on from this. This book was published in 2004, and there was a 9/11 joke (it's been over 20 years, and it is still too soon). I could have let it go, but I kid you not, just a few short chapters later, there was a BOMB ON A PLANE. My brain short circuited, and I genuinely couldn't move on and focus on the rest of the book. I'm FLOORED by the audacity tbh

Listen. This is definitely a coming of age, middle school book. I would have LOVED this in junior high. Also, the cover of the book is super cute. I will probably be adding it to the books my kids could try when they are ready for it!

It's giving Tuck Everlasting. I don't know how I feel about that.

This book is riddled with a number of triggering themes. There is something triggering for everyone! Read with caution!! It is extremely interesting though and super good! It is like a SUPER edgy version of The Uglies.

I think it is a bad idea to binge these books. They are so unsettling. It may be a sci-fi series, but it is so surreal to read from the perspective of a potential serial killer/sociopath. The books are good, well written, but soooo uncomfortable to read. Also, having Kirby Heyborn read this book was so choice. He is an LDS early '00s actor, and so the contrast is hard to justify.

I don't think I can binge this series. They make me very uncomfortable.. They are good though, just like sooo realistic it is frightening.

"OK, it is better than I remember," she said reluctantly. The truth was, she wasn't able to put it down. For hours, she sped up and slowed down her audiobook. Speeding it up when the plot was thickening, slowing it down to understand the magic system that was being built. This time, skipping past the sex scenes that initially left a bitter taste in her mouth and enjoying the well written story for what it is.

I'm re-reading this because everyone in my book club seems to be enjoying it. I wasn't impressed the first time I read it, so I'm giving it another shot.

I am mainly reading this because it is the same author as Ella Enchanted, and I liked Ella Enchanted. I was feeling the vibe for it, and I'm just trying to enjoy it for what it is, but it is definitely a book that is meant for middle schoolers. Ya live and learn lol

OK as I'm reading this and I realized that the author has the same first name of the main character is the same, I realized that this is a true story. Somehow that helped with the depressive sadness I was seeing and feeling at the beginning of the book!

The first half of this book is depressing and perpetuates depressing religious things that I don't believe. (Example: that it is women's job to be modest for men.) But there are other good things about it so far, I'm just frustrated with those things.
