So far this book is everything I loved from Don’t Let the Forest In plus everything I felt like it was missing. The “monsters” in this book are more grounded in real life so they give me a much more visceral response. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 so far

I’m hooked.

I am still not certain I understand the motivations of any character or the stakes. I’m not positive what the overarching point or story is. It feels very much like I’m a bee just jumping from moment to moment without a real tether to the story

Rape, Rape, and more Rape. Don’t know why I expected anything else

Bad things happening to you does not mean that you being an absolute trash person is now acceptable. If this book tries to fully redeem him I am going to scream. I will also scream if they lose their memories again at the end as I am predicting they will. My flabbers… they are ghasted. What did I just read??

I understand that part of the narrative is to not know what is going on since the narrator doesn’t however I did have to double check that I wasn’t missing a book before this one. Being dropped in with absolutely no knowledge has been done before and it hasn’t felt as jarring as it was in this book. I am only just now confident that it was a true choice… one that wasn’t done super well.

I want to like this book but the lack of ability, or possibly just lack of effort, to follow the most basic rules of the english language is making this impossible to enjoy.

I'm not asking for inspiring or ground breaking prose, I just want an author or an editor that knows "slenderer" isn't correct. For heavens sake, does no one care what we are publishing? No matter the draw of the premise, a book will always be ruined by pedestrian writing and poor/nonexistant editing.

The concept of this book is great. The subject matter is right up my alley but you can't just skate by on concept. Asking for the basic rules on english composition to be followed shouldn't be too much. Again I ask, who is editing modern books?

I love a possessive lead but this is absolute insanity. Spoilers but at this point in the book i am hoping the “happy ending” is that she escapes and runs as far as she possibly can… although I doubt it. I’m getting happy Stockholm Syndrome victim as the ending…

What the in the Joe Goldberg is happening here

So far not super engaging and I’m pretty annoyed that the whole book is based around true crime and they keep referring to a character as a serial killer. She presumably killed twice, it takes 3 to be serial and any true crime enthusiast would know that.
