This was complete and utter madness. Dark, off putting, and really, really brilliant. Mona Awad writes in high-literary fever dreams and you better be in a mentally sound place walking into this type of doozy. It is the perfect (fantastical and campy) depiction of literary arts pretensions, self obsession and self loathing. As she says, so invested in its own otherness in the most disturbingly magical way.

If you’re looking for something dense but brilliant, you’ll love this. An exploration of the many tropes of the unlikable woman in pop culture, this is equal parts upsetting and inspiring.

I could not put this down! I loved it. Thrilling in a way that’s believable, twists that are properly unexpected, and such beautiful character and relationship development.

I love a Canadian-set romance. Miss Carley never misses!

I loved this even more than I expected and it came highly recommended. It was so sweet and whimsical. This was the perfect book for an overloaded brain and I already miss all of the beautifully written, quirky/zany characters.

I loved this so much, and so much more than I expected. It had all of the trappings of a classic, tropey rom com but it brought witty, tight narrative and a really compelling plot to level it up. I cannot wait to watch the movie!

So incredibly beautiful. A story about friendship above all else, but also loss, grief, destructive habits, love in its many forms, family, chosen family, and all of the complexities of these little lives of ours. The writing is so incredibly human, truly beautiful. Disclaimer: you will cry your eyes out.
