"They're angry," Magdalena said, peering out the window with her hand pressed to her chest. "And they're grieving. Do not underestimate what they're capable of."

Another one of his radical friends, I supposed, Nin or Miller or any of their set.

Omg is this Anaïs Nin and Henry Miller? Ok Alexi I was unfamiliar with your game

Desire makes idiots of all of us. But you already knew that part, didn't you?

"And the women?"
"Ah," she said, her voice almost a purr. She broke eye contact with you and shot me a smirk. "Women are another matter entirely."

FUCK

"You must never overthink any good and pleasurable thing," Magdalena went on, her cheek almost pressed to mine as we twirled. The wine on her breath was as sweet as blackcurrants. I wanted to taste it on her lips as much as I wanted to taste it in her veins. "We should never deny ourselves any pleasure in this life."

Omg she’s so hot and cool

Older than me, handsome, with a healthy tan on his brown skin that told me his blood would taste like ripening summer apricots and the dust of a well-traveled road.

This is so good - kind of like Interview with the Vampire but more female-focused

Part 2

I think, my lord, that this is when you loved me best. When I was freshly made, and still as malleable as wet clay in your hands.

What is going on

Part 5

Fred is so creepy like just leave him girl you don’t need men like this in your life

Part 4

Part 3

Why is it with every Alex Michaelides book there’s like 10 male characters who are all creepy and try to harass the MC?

Eugh why does Mariana have like 10 stalkers this is creepy

Pretty entertaining so far, but the way they describe Cambridge just gives me the ick she just sounds like she’s talking about Hogwarts or smth idk 💀 kinda cringe

Call me a nerd but idc Severin is the most sx5 ever

“I have two ideals of woman. If I cannot obtain the one that is noble and simple, the woman who will faithfully and truly share my life, well then I don't want anything half-way or lukewarm. Then
I would rather be subject to a woman without virtue, fidelity, or pity. Such a woman in her magnificent selfishness is likewise an ideal.”

I wasn’t expecting this to be so much about paganism but I’m here for it

“From that emerald tub I’d step, smelling sweet of flowered perfume, and my skin soft as satin, and my pores would be forever cleansed of the rotten stench of dry old wood and attic dust permeated with all the miseries of antiquity . . . so that we, who were young, smelled as old as this house.”

So real Cathy

“I know I shouldn’t be, but you look so beautiful. It’s like I never saw you before. How did you grow so lovely, when I was here all the time?”

PART 1 OVER 🥳

I kept seeing stains on the sheets, and they weren’t large enough to be another of Cory’s dreams of going to the bathroom. They were on Chris’s side of the bed. “For heaven’s sakes, Chris. I sure hope you don’t take to dreaming of being in the bathroom while you’re still asleep in bed.”
I just couldn’t believe his fantastic tale of something he called “nocturnal emissions!”

Oh!

“This is not a pretty house. It’s grand, it’s big, it’s beautiful, but I wouldn’t call it pretty.”

“I want you to make me feel I was there with you, at your side, seeing and feeling what you did.”
He turned his head so our eyes locked and he said in the weirdest voice, “You were there beside me. I felt you there, holding onto my hand, whispering in my ear, and I looked all the harder, just so you could see what I did.”

Things might be picking up now. 👀 Cruel Corinne and Cathy and Chris going through puberty? 😬

Christopher is my fav so far

Good so far, I’m hooked. Don’t trust the mum though 😅

I finally realised that the difference between US and UK covers is the US ones like to have people on the covers while the UK ones tend to avoid it
