Understand is a fun read. I felt my brain cells working out haha. Math, science, music, art, linguistic, etc - reaching peak at those. Having heightened senses. But all for what?

Long time no read!! I just realized now that I’m reading romance book, not much science fiction.

Have the courage to dig deeper - ask questions (odds are half of the room is puzzled too), build on the shoulders of the giants (deconstruct their tools/systems → adapt) and take risks when you reasons are clear.

Have the courage to influence others - don't leave others used and abused, aim for mutual win all the time. Influence higher, diagonally, sideways, & outside with honesty & generosity.

Two chapters in one sitting hehe. I liked the "Obsessed" chapter better. The google-resume-application-emailing-every-permutation-of-email-username anecdote is so funny. I also like the analogy with working out: "pushing hard against your limits and expect occasional failure". Excellence is simply consistency + proactiveness + doing one thing at a time properly. Easy to say but "common sense isn't common practice" :)

Topic is being selfish: giving yourself permission to pursue you own agenda. Pursue want you want and not somebody else's definition of success. Ask for it because no one else will. Ask for what you want repeatedly, and asking will get easier by time. See your manager/boss/peers as just another human being under similar pressures of capitalism - keep always in mind to negotiate to a win-win situation.

Chapter 1 and I found myself laughing because the topic resonates so much with me right now at work. It reminds me to be "weird" - embrace being curious, being obsessed, being courageous. Always welcome opportunities, they come because you deserve it. Be visible, authentic, and good things will follow. I love it.

Do deliberate practice to improve.

Interest does not necessarily makes you "great" at it. It takes work. Discovering "it" is the hard part, if your circumstance is not in your favor.

Interest, practice, purpose, hope

As of writing, 3.3 grit. 2.8 passion. 3.8 perseverance.

Consistency of effort over a long period of time is everything.

"Bias towards action" mindset, always.

What we do is another thing.
