I am starting this 1988 Newbery Winner in honor of the Library Superbowl tomorrow morning! I am so excited to see which book wins the Newbery (and other) awards tomorrow!!

I randomly picked this up at the library, and I am hoping it is better than its Goodreads number. I liked the first chapter so far and the cover is adorable, so off to a good start. Sometimes bad expectations leads to a better reading experience anyway. Choosing to the hopeful.

I had to start this book today!

Thought this would be a fitting crossover book for the new year.

Made it to p. 85...I'm just not interested in it. I had hoped for a funny look at language today, but this book is actually really serious and academic. I'm sure others will love it, but it is not for me.

Apparently I want the lyrics to Hamilton stuck in my head the entire year with this reading choice (it has been on my Nook since I first got it and downloaded a billion of free ebook classics). Let's see if my love of the musical can help me finish this collection of essays by the end of 2020. Wish me luck!

Let the Christmas reading begin!

I am going to give this book a chance, but so far it is more of a Homer book than a Pattie book. No Bad-Assness yet, just background history. It could just be my mood for cheesy Christmas stories too. But, I am not giving up yet!

I have had this on my desk at work for a couple years now, and I finally put the bookmark in today. It is somewhat popular in my library, but I have a feeling I will be throwing it across the room as I attempt to read it. We shall soon see!

Oh my gosh! The narrator of this book sounds just like a serious William Shatner. :)

Just went back and reviewed the table of contents, and I think I sort of figured out the ending. I guess I will find of if I am right tomorrow.

Just watched the first episode of Outlander (playing for free on Starz.com) and it was great. Stayed up until 1am reading this book and had to force myself to go to bed instead of finishing it. :)

Favorite thing learned so far...the French Proverb "Ne Petez plus haut que votre cul" which means "Don't fart above your arsehole." Oh, I also loved that in 1999 she thought America Online was here to stay. :)

Saw her promoting this on Chelsea Lately and I was intrigued. I am not expecting much.

Love how this book starts..."So, there I was, tied to an altar made from outdated encyclopedias, about to get sacrificed to the dark powers by a cult of evil Librarians." I never thought I would be a part of a cult! :)

This is another random book Gavin picked out for me from the paperback shelves at the library. He liked the heart sticker on the spine!

I remember loving this book when it was assigned to me in 7th grade by my English teacher who told us all not to get any ideas from it! :) Hope it is as good as I remember.

I am planning of making room in the freezer for when I get too scared!
