I’m was going through a reading slump at the time I started this, and although I will return to this book at some point, I just have to drop it for now. It’s interesting, as I do like history, but sometimes I feel bogged down in all the uninteresting parts, like his career. ! I know that sounds bad, but….! Another reason I lost interest is that this was my first venture into annotation. It is not for me, apparently.

I’m a huge fan of this author, and have read many of her books, but I almost quit Demon Copperhead by page 60. It was so very depressing. But I stayed with it and am glad I did. It was still depressing on one level or another, but all in all a really good book. It’s about survival, hope, the strength of spirit, and caring. It made me look at certain situations differently, and with more understanding and compassion.
