We had three chapters of straight smut which were supposedly nine days worth. She barely went to classes, he MISSED work… I’m sorry but I just don’t think the guard would allow that for nine days and be so forgiving. I really don’t think I like Arken.

Been awhile since Spellcaster, so I kinda forgot where we were at, but then remembered as the first chapters happened. Can I just say… that the magic Logan and Paisley did as kids is kinda creepy because what do you mean no adult stopped them??

I’m honestly still struggling to not be bored but at least this section ended on something exciting. I like Kieran, but as a reader I know a twist is coming from him so I’m getting frustrated just waiting for that to happen, and Arken is still bugging me with her combination of personalities. She’s also repeating a lot of things that we just don’t need to read again.

I kind of wish we hadn’t had the prologue because it’s making me really suspicious of Kieran and his tattoos/shadows, and making me think of what twists are to come. It also feels quite slow paced, and Arken is this combo of two personalities: one scholarly and one reckless and sassy. I’m not sure the two are meshing well.

Definitely a good epic fantasy plot line with lots of courtly intrigue!

Really enjoying the writing style so far! The queer normative world is very strong. Happy I have the ARC to figure out if I want a physical copy!
