I wish the author wouldn’t use modern terms and phrases. This book takes place in 74 BC, I highly doubt they called dwellings above their shops flats. Also, I’m willing to bet “cross that bridge when we come to it” and “bigger fish to fry” were not phrases anybody used in Ancient Rome. Otherwise, this isn’t half bad.

I am in bliss! Any book mentioning the Cubs, Wrigley Field, Grant Park, Navy Pier, etc makes me a little giddy. Being able to visualize the setting is always a bonus when reading a book.

Ugh! This is what I get for buying a used book- it skips from page 138 to page 171. More than two chapters are missing! How frustrating. I'll have to get my hands on a proper copy before continuing.
I am thoroughly enjoying this story thus far and it's extremely well-written.
