Didn't love every story, but the last 4 were all excellent. I'm so invested now in the Werel and Yeowe storyline, I can barely put this book down. It's like a novel written in several novellas.

Reached the end of The Story of the Stone. Not quite as good and emotional as Bridge of Birds, but still creative and enjoyable. Now looking forward to Eight Skilled Gentlemen, and probably yet another story with twists and turns I won't see coming.

Finished Bridge of Birds, and loved it! The ending was beautiful and happy and a bit sad all at the same time. Now on to The Story of the Stone.

About to start the 3 part of Bridge of Birds. I'm really enjoying the writing (after struggling a bit to get into it at the beginning) and I have no clue what the conclusion of the story might be. A very refreshing read!

Finished the first part. As usual reading LeGuin's writing is curious for me. I often gave trouble immersing myself in her stories for a longer time, but her stories stay in my mind long after I've read them.
It might be because her style is so economic somehow. She conveys a lot of messages and content with very few words.

He then argues that a CD is only a coaster if not decoded - that same thing would be true for any book. But I'd say it's not true at all, because the information exists even when it isn't being actively accessed. It will always be a record.
'A record is a text that cannot be "read". It must be decoded.' - As if our brain wouldn't decode text when we read it? Forms to letters, letters to words, words to meaning.

I find myself disagreeing with the author already in the introduction unfortunately. He states we form strong identities around music, "in a way that feels so much more personal than books or movies". Not in my case? I mean that probably is true for him, but it would have been good to not generalize it.

Am I the only one who thinks the Malazan book needed more editing? For me they could all be 50% of the current length and more focused.

I'm doing better with the writing style by now, but still think the last books each should have been 400-600 pages shorter.

Can't even remember the last time I was so afraid for a main character in a book. I dread reading further. I need to know what happens.

This is stupid and cheesy and over-the-top... Cosmic intervention? Can't stop rolling my eyes.

I wish I could enjoy this book as much as I wished to based on the reviews. But I feel a bit bored, and there's too much fever touch and not enough emotional connection for me.

Will anything relevant happen in this book or will the author just self indulge in world building and character backstory dumping until the end of it?

Need to make a prediction. The siphoning of magic from the Otherworld is what causes the Blight. So the whole civilization in the city is causing the suffering of the Kwen. And the archmages all know. Let's see if I'm correct ^^
