It’s like a version of David Copperfield where the main character grows up in Ethiopia and where everything centers around the practice of medicine. As with Dicken’s writings, many stories are told, many interesting characters are met and re-met, and many inequalities and cultural issues are laid bare.

Writing style starts out with pleasantly jaunty style but not sustained. Detective does too much judging by look, unrealistic ability to tell when someone is lying
