I’m DNFing this. I don’t rate books I don’t finish out of respect, but here’s my reasons for DNFing:

I’m just so bored with the story. I don’t like the FMC and as much as I want to like the MMC, I don’t feel like we’re being given much to work with.

Y’all ever “clean up” your *Want To Read* shelf on here? I just went through mine and there was:

📕 one book I had added at some point that wasn’t even in a language I recognized, let alone could read
📚 several books that I know I’ll never read but had added because booktok told me to 🫠

DNF’ing at 30%. I just…can’t. Not only is everything really confusing (and I get that’s supposed to be part of the plot) but the writing just seems really childish. Almost like a really young writer trying to sound more accomplished and established than she is.

I feel so let down. I saved up Audible credits to buy all 3 books in this series just to find out you all lied to me.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 65%.
Premise and beginning was intriguing …but then I just lost interest. I think you have to be in a non-serious mood to enjoy this book. It was taking a lot of willingness to suspend my disbelief about a secret government intelligence agency (although this was clearly well researched). So I might still recommend it to someone looking for a romcom & I may come back to it someday.

Question: for what reasons do you DNF a book? Trying to decide if I should DNF one of my current reads.

DNF at 45%. The premise and the beginning captivated me but then things got boring.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 67%.
I tried so hard to stick and out and finish it, but this book honestly takes A LOT of brain power to get through and I couldn’t stop being easily distracted. There are some beautiful descriptions in this writing and the premise is intriguing, but I can’t keep lying to myself and saying I’ll finish it when I probably won’t.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 56%.
I was hooked the first 20%, and then I don’t know…I got bored. Not because things weren’t happening, but because the things that were happening felt redundant a little. Plus, the FMC has absolutely no flaws. She’s perfect in every way and she felt like such a “Mary Sue” type character. And then the MMC gave me the ick the way he thought about her.

DNF.🫣 I’m disappointed in myself for not finishing this, but I honestly couldn’t get into it. Even though I made it about 70% through the book, I can’t really tell you what’s going on. Maybe I’m just not in the right mood for this type of story right now? Also, the writing style was wordy so it made it hard to read. I hope one day I’ll feel like trying it again someday & have a different experience.
