i have mixed feelings about this book because, i respect a re-telling and a different POV, especially so many years later. but it was all over the place in my opinion. sort of easy to read but annoying to follow. i feel bad for grendel at the start, but at the end im glad he dies.

right so. grendel is kind of an asshole? but, in a moral sense. i think it’s funny that it reads sort of like a parody. he prides himself on being a dick which, is sort of refreshing.

a very interesting perspective. it provides backstory on this previously known to be evil and villainous character, maybe giving insight on why he was like that in the first place. so far, it’s been more interesting to read because its prose, unlike the original poem. no shade to the og, but reading a story is much easier to engage.

wow. the last half of this is true so mind-boggling. what a good play. it is the most honest and slice of life story i have ever read.

this is not what i expected it to be. i don’t know what i thought, but it was not this. it’s so homely and raw and real. just people living and what that means for each of them. it’s a really refreshing take, and of course, since it’s a play, the dialogue carries. but it’s perfect like that, minimal description and more and more talking.

+ regulus small appearances are so important. also, the big fight with tomny was very detrimental to remus’ psyche. he for sure went too far but i also understand where he is coming from, even if he went about things wrong.

MUNDUNGUS FLETCHER. motswolo you are a genius. wow what a piece of shit guy, also fucking albert. wow, they really went through a lot just to get fucked. at least they got the ‘demo’ out of it. in other news, LOTTIE IS GETTING MARRIED! peter is not happy about it but im hoping he’ll warm up to it. at least for his sister. effie finding out about r&s like that was unexpected but wholesome. lily my genius queen.

pretentious at times, but i’m not the target audience so who am i to say these things. certainly useful though.

I have so few chapters left of this book and i’m acc DEPRESSED AS FUCK. it’s too good. It might be my favorite book after mixtape now. the boys are living in a flat together + lily, with Marlene and Mary coming along sometimes when they’re not off on a side quest. dorcas and Marlene are also going steady! Kingsley mention as well!! TOMNY IS GOING TO BE A FATHER BRO THAT WAS A CURVE BALL.

i disagree with structure in general. i know this is supposed to be an educational thing but where is people’s whimsy fr. im reading this for TA so i might as well log it. i do however, think it’s important to learn about different perspectives and who knows? maybe it’ll make shakespeare a bit less daunting.

okay, it’s grown on me. the chemistry between the kids is funny, the characters stopped feeling one-dimensional and the plot is alright. i like how everyone is their own individual but they’re also just pre-teens. i do think that their “skills” are crazy played up but, it makes for a fun contrast between them all. the kid spies trope will forever reign supreme.

very easy prose but it’s mostly reads like a one piece filler episode. there’s a lot of words to explain a simple action and it drags on for a lot of it. i know im definitely not the target audience but it’s for school so, here we are.

woooooow this was dramatic. everyone and their mothers (quite literally) was a piece of work.

surprisingly interesting. i’m having trouble deciphering parts of it, but there’s a page that helps with the language so i’m reading it side by side.

it’s been slow (clearly), but fun. i find it very similar to the last book i read (the mysterious benedict society) in which children are tasked with saving the world, but then again, when are they not? the main character’s name is olive, and her gang’s are james, iggy, phil, james and theo.

chapter 96. what’s a special one. top 5 for sure. the tape with all their favorite songs was like magic. i truly felt like i was there with them. it’s silly but this is where one realizes the impact of characters you love like your own friends.

remus got a letter from his dad as a last ditch effort to get him to go to school, and admitted him into manchester uni, but he put it inside the time capsule, with the rest of his friend’s memories and chose music.

the ending took me by surprise to be honest, milligan being kate’s dad is a crazy development AND CONSTANCE BEING 2 YEARS OLD??? crazy. it made me emotional, and it was sweet.

S.Q. 100000% knows that theyre the spies. he HAS to. or else he’s just the biggest idiot for no reason but i doubt that. it’s too coincidental. also, the end of the last chapter i read, read like a marauders fan fiction. VIVAN LOS PRANKS!!

the kids have figured out mr. curtain’s evil plan. first of all, the ‘emergency’ that’s been like a lingering problem in this universe (like some kind of threat of war) is fake, and it’s all been created by mr. c, second, the institute is basically a guinea pig for what he intends to do to the entire world and third, he plans to erase people’s memories somehow. it’s sick and twisted.

sticky and reynie are oficially messengers!! their morse code report was interrupted by curtain’s presence and they’ve narrowly avoided the waiting room twice. also, i found out that the book itself has morse code on the back, and when i punched it into a translator, it gave me the name “NICHOLAS” im wondering if that’s curtain’s real name? or some random? not sure. but intriguing nonetheless.

&&& TRISH AND REG ACC BEING FRIENDS?? my heart. the bisexual james potter agenda has been introduced oh my days. james asking what the difference is? how it feels? curiosity may have killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back (!!!). a/n said that theres only 2 more chapters at school and i’m already mourning it.
