i just want to know if people were actually so dumb and naive back then

oh boy. very fun and lots to love... I shouldn't hate on the excessive dramatics. I am, myself, a lover of drama. But maybe if it was written by a woman, the women wouldn't be such caricatures?? Maybe there wouldn't be references to them still having a taste for the forbidden fruit??

The men are caricatures too, and also in a very annoying way.

i had no idea this was where the fig tree metaphor came from - i've possibly never related to anything more in my life.

and despite how self-absorbed and unlikeable esther is, i understand her and i feel for her deeply. i find her quite relatable, and i think if i was so utterly caught up with myself as she is, i would be a lot like her.
