Reading through the omnibus of Viriconium again. Let's see which way the wind blows my former rating this time.

First non-movie exposure to Dickens. Let's see how it goes...

Slow to pick up so far. Either the narrator of the audiobook (or the main characters, or both) are not quite doing it for me in this one so far.

Just finished Divinity Student. I forgot a lot and still have no clue what's happening half the time, but the thing's fascinating nevertheless.

A Chance of Frogs on Wednesday feels like Borne meets Roadside Picnic meets A Boy and His Dog, without feeling derivative.

Just finished the story The Lady and the Tiger Redux. Early contender for favorite (and big surprise what with it being the most 'cosmic horror' story so far, I'm sure).

Moving this over to the edition I'm actually reading...

Round 2...FIGHT!

First two stories feel like classic ghost stories a la M.R. James/Henry James/Robert Aickman, maybe with a bit of pulp thrown in for texture. This is a good thing. John Langan's fiction is almost always a good thing.

Just finished up The Mist. Great story, not sure if I prefer this ending or the film adaptation's, but it's a pretty great movie as well. My kind of story in both cases.

This is just what I needed to relax my brain some when it gets tired of struggling through the impossible obstacle course which is Unlanguage (which I am also enjoying, but boy does it hurt my brain sometimes).
