I'm pretty sure this book is killing my brain cells faster than crack could

Two years later, on to Volume two...

The last few times I have picked up a book, within a page I find myself thinking "why are these people social interacting!?!". Eek.

I'm gonna regret this in the morning

This was written 14 years ago... back when we still had some influence to screw up... should be quaint considering where we are now.

After two months of reading this most nights before bed words like "carpetbagger", "scalawag" and "buccaneer" have crept into my dreams thanks to sick burns like this: "The number of representatives in the legislature who could neither read nor write, during the 7 years of carpetbag rule in Florida, was six, of whom four were white."

Well, no going back now...

I've heard this is suppose to be terrible but I own it and so now I have to read it..

13 days till Vice. Pre-game time!

Not only do I love what DeLillo is saying in this novel and how is saying it, I also seem to have selected the perfect time in American history to read it.

So far
1) there is so much talk of corn, at least 60% has been corn related.
2) "the invisible hand" only shows itself one time in the entire book so if you aren't paying attention at about page 500 you will miss it.
3) if Smith is on your dead dinner party invite list it would be very interesting to see his reaction to an explantion of how credit cards work as he would most likely blow a gasket

Screw you goodreads, I haven't read everything twice and I don't know why you keep insisting that I have.

I'm lost in the Aether, experiencing double vision, when all of a sudden I stumble on a Pythagoras/bean joke and at that point I can officially declare to be in love with this book.

I have a bad feeling though that the Chums of Chance represent a Kitchener battalion and the ones I'm attached to are drifting off on the Inconvenience to a doomed destiny...

So far it has been all explosions, anarchists and sky ships and I'm really enjoying both the spiderweb of a story and the superb writing. It's slow going though as I have the hardcover edition and it's way too big to hold up in the bath, which is where I do most of my serious reading.

I'm so lost..... can't understand almost anything so far except that the point seems to be to leave me lost and confused

The Good: Evoked my brand loyalty with both DQ and Cons references and the multiple-characters-who-will-all-converge story structure is keeping my attention.
The Bad: I bought the "complete and uncut" edition, I think the circumcised version would have got the job done just fine.
The Silly: Cowboy Dan (AKA: hardcase, the dark man, the eye, walkin' dude).

It's been over 20 years since I've read King, not sure if I'm going to like it. But I try to read at least one horror book in October and this one has been taking up shelf space for a few years so here goes nothing

Might as well jump on this bandwagon now that it is overcrowded and long gone.

Thought Hammer was gonna be a tough guy but so far he's more dim-witted brute who's a sucker for anything in a skirt. After a blonde bombshell packing a PhD confesses love after meeting him once and has him offering Tiffany-diamond-encrusted proposals within a week, he probably should have known he was in for a bad time. Next up is My Gun is Quick,which sounds like the poor guy has premature e problems as well.

Since it's the first week under the Don of this new era of alternative facts, it seems like the perfect time to start boning up on fake US history! Only one chapter in and already Stone has informed me that not only did LBJ (who smoked devil reefers) kill JFK (who was a meth head) but he also has seven other confirmed kills under his belt. If the 'case' gets any bigger than this, I might piss my pants.

Been up here with Hans for 3 months now but I figure that's like what... about a week in magic mountain time?
