Miss Marple meets the Redwall series in this cute murder mystery featuring woodland animals. I just wish it was as well-written as those series 😅

I’m really enjoying listening to this on Spotify while I do chores around the house! My goal is to finish it by 2026, along with the physical novel I’m reading 💪🏼 📖

I’m really enjoying this so far! I think Brianna has improved as a writer compared to her last book — I’m finding this one more engrossing and just all-around well-written. I also keep hearing her voice as I read, since I watch her Instagram stories so often 😂

So far it’s feeling very The Giver meets Handmaid’s Tale, minus any sexual assault. It’s a weird, rambling read and I’m glad it’s short. 😅

I’m enjoying the realistic portrayal of an unlikely plot, but wishing it had been written by Emily Henry.

A fun read so far — It feels like Bridgerton, but with witches and magic.

This feels like a typical Emily Henry book so far: familiar, predictable, and just a little cheesy. Perfect for a hot summer day like the heat wave we’ve been experiencing! :)

A lot of repetition of the date April 25, 1955, and at page 50 the novel feels like it hasn’t even begun yet, but it’s getting more interesting! I’m also enjoying all the allusions to eating/killing overly lustful and entitled men, hehe.

This is such a quick, easy, and fun read!

It turns out the Studio Ghibli adaptation is very true to the original in terms of vibe, but there are a couple of plot points that differ. One of those plot differences puts the book into the category of magical realism instead of straight-up fantasy, and softens the anti-war message of the film.

Olga Bea is on page 60 of 248 of Her Body and Other Parties: Stories
This feels like a 21st-century, feminist collection of Julio Cortázar stories: unreliable narrators, fantastical situations, and mind-bending plot twists. So far my favorite has been “Inventory,” in which a woman details her sexual encounters through a world-ending pandemic. At first I thought it was about 2020, but then realized it couldn’t be, seeing as it was written in 2017. Ghostly!

I’m loving listening to this insightful and philosophical book! Florence has certainly done her research on feminism, capitalism, and agency. This book has made me aware of the attention economy, and shown me that capitalism and the patriarchy are even more intertwined than I thought. Every chapter could legitimately be turned into a TED Talk.

In a world that’s all about the hustle, this book is a refreshing breath of cool air. It’s for anyone who’s ever been burnt out, depressed, or grieving, which is all of us at some point. This book says: it’s ok, I’ve been there too.

Loving this as much as The Bear and the Nightingale! This series is perfect for reading in the middle of winter, full of snowy descriptions of medieval Moscow and Russian folk tales.

Might have to dnf this one; so far there’s been a whole lot of telling and not a whole lot of showing. Going to push through for now though because I like the premise!
