Crazy amount of progress made while on vacation, anticipating progress slowing down some. Remembering what made me frustrated while reading this series originally - perspectives that I want to see progressing get halted from other characters POVs getting page time.

Feel like it's a bad idea to get back into the series that originally burnt me out of reading, but have heard good things about the payoff. Hold me accountable, team, on continuing progress.

The shift back to school life after the epic conclusion of book 1 has me a little sad, but understand that the story needs time to cook for better payoffs later.

Meant to say 50% done, not 50 pages in, lol.

While progress on this book has been a little slow, I am enjoying my time with it. Kinda reads like a DnD campaign so far (not a pro but not a con). Joe Abercrombie has a very unique way of writing, being very character driven & focused, which I appreciate. No overly long exposition and worldbuilding which take you away from what's happening. Learn about the world thru the character!

Tbh I am finding this book just OK so far. Agree that some of the language used is a little cringe, the story itself feels side-questy (did I tell you about the time that we fought Naiads operating perfume shops?) Idk, maybe I need to reframe my mental / expectations.

Attempting to ease back into reading with this book, glad to be present 👍🫡

Haven't updated progress in a little while, but am enjoying the book so far. In general, things move pretty quick which I appreciate, no chapter is more than ~8-10 minutes long. I like the various vidya game concepts & ideas used throughout.
