Well, I didn’t think it could get darker than a trigger warning for SA. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to walk through the lumber section at Lowe’s without thinking about this book.

I did not expect that a book on the history of trees in the United States would require a trigger warning for SA but here we are. Trigger warning for SA in a book about the history of American Evergreens.

This random pick turned out to be one of the best history books I’ve ever read.

I didn’t realize it was a sequel when I picked it up and assumed they were all older at the start. In my head they’re all in their 20s and 30s.

Glad this was part of the Goodreads Challenge. I’ve been meaning to read this.

Chapter 2 was interesting because I haven’t had any VR experiences in the metaverse. Chapter 3 was interesting because I 100% had no idea that there were businesses that rent out sex dolls. The entire chapter on sex dolls was stomach turning to be honest.

Chapter 1 was about the impact of deepfakes and incredibly enlightening. I had heard a bit about deepfake abuse before but this deep dive is helpful in understanding the scale and scope of the problem.

There are very few people I like in this story, but I like Nick’s sister. I hope she doesn’t do anything horrible.

What the…just when I thought I couldn’t hate Nick anymore. This is such a mess.

I don’t think the author could make me hate Nick any more.

Wow…Nick is such a LOSER. He’s just a big disgusting loser.

Whatever is happening. Nick has it coming.

Is there one person in this whole book that is likable?

The irony of her parents being child psychologists and raising her to believe that they had a “perfect” marriage.

They needed therapy from the start of their marriage.
